20GP IGU Glass Loading Manual (Scheme 5): 24mm Unit Thickness Engineering, Standardized Crating Moduli & Correction of Over-Capacity Discrepancies

Scheme 5 directly resolves the severe typographical discrepancies raised by factory masters regarding 960mm crates marked with 50 vs 100 panes at identical weights. Based on 24mm physical thickness per pane (22mm glass + 2mm cork padding), this manual proves that 100 panes (2.5m thick) or 50 panes (2.6m paired) cannot physically enter a 20GP container. Establishes 3 strict factory standardized moduli (Modulus A: Tier-2 25pcs/680mm/598kg, Modulus B: Base 33-34pcs/880-900mm, Modulus C: Slabs 20pcs/560-580mm) with complete 21-crate physically verified packing manifest.

To Valued Clients, Marine Cargo Surveyors, and Factory Technical Packaging Teams:
A senior packaging master on the factory floor rightly pointed out a fatal discrepancy in prior specification summaries:
“Why did identical 960mm wide crates list 50 panes in one row and 100 panes in another, while both showed gross weights around 940kg? How could that physically fit into a container?”

The factory master’s observation is 100% correct! A clerical copy-paste error occurred where batch order totals (100 or 50) were mistakenly entered into the single-crate column, whereas crate dimensions and tare weights had been calculated for 25 to 34 units.

Field experience is invaluable. We have thus formulated Scheme 5: Physical Truth & Standardized Modular Crating Specification, rigorously based on the 24mm actual physical thickness per unit for all 600 double-silver Low-E insulated glass units (615.55 m², ~16.58 tons loaded).

🚀 Scheme 5 Interactive CAD Blueprint & Moduli Verifier

Featuring a pure HTML5 Canvas vector engine, the interactive blueprint includes an exclusive “24mm Physical Moduli Cross-Section View” demonstrating the exact fit of Moduli A, B, and C inside a standard 20GP container:

1. Why 100 or 50 Panes in a Single Crate is Physically Impossible

Calculating the physical space occupied by insulated glass reveals the indisputable facts:

1. Actual Required Thickness Per Pane: 24 mm

  • Specification: 5CLT-12A-5LBT (5mm tempered + 12mm air spacer + 5mm Low-E tempered) = 22 mm net glass thickness;
  • Every pane requires 2 mm high-density cork pads or EPE foam spacers to prevent surface friction and dynamic point stresses during ocean transit;
  • Therefore: For each pane packed, internal crate width must increase by 24 mm!

2. If 100 Panes Were Packed in One Crate (Impossible — Cannot Enter Door):

  • Net glass thickness: $100 \times 24\text{ mm} = \mathbf{2,400\text{ mm}}$ (2.4 meters);
  • Adding timber corner posts, crossbeams, and plywood siding yields an outer crate width of 2,500 mm (2.5 meters);
  • Fatal Bottleneck: A 20GP container has an internal width of 2,352 mm and door opening width of 2,340 mm! A 100-pane crate is 16cm wider than the door itself — it physically cannot enter the container;
  • Furthermore, gross weight would reach 2.5 to 2.8 tons, far exceeding forklift capacity inside a dry container and creating severe deck punch hazards.

3. If 50 Panes Were Packed in One Crate (Cannot Fit Two Crates Side-by-Side):

  • Net glass thickness: $50 \times 24\text{ mm} = \mathbf{1,200\text{ mm}}$;
  • Outer crate width reaches approximately 1,300 mm;
  • Two crates side-by-side require $1,300 \times 2 = \mathbf{2,600\text{ mm}} > \mathbf{2,352\text{ mm}}$ — impossible to load two crates across the container width!

2. Scheme 5’s Three Standardized Factory Crating Moduli

To guarantee zero packaging ambiguity on the factory floor, all 600 panes are standardized into 3 rigid modular crating types:

Modulus TypePanes / CrateInternal Glass ThicknessOuter Crate WidthGross Weight RangeOperational Role & Safety
Modulus A
(Tier-2 Light)
Uniform 25 PCS$25 \times 24 = \mathbf{600\text{ mm}}$680 mm580–605 kgDedicated strictly to tier-2 stacking. Silky smooth forklift hoisting with zero mast shake; zero crush stress on base tier.
Modulus B
(Base Heavy)
Uniform 33~34 PCS$33\text{-}34 \times 24 = \mathbf{792\text{–}816\text{ mm}}$880–900 mm920–1005 kgGrounded base foundation. Never exceeds 1 metric ton. 100-pane batches divided equally into 3 crates (34+33+33).
Modulus C
(Oversized Slabs)
Uniform 20 PCS$20 \times 24 = \mathbf{480\text{ mm}}$560–580 mm865–978 kgOversized slabs flat-packed with long edge grounded; single-tier flat-pack across mid-ship low-resonance zone.

3. Factory Workshop Crating Rules

=================== FACTORY FLOOR CRATING RULES ===================
1. [EQUAL WIDTH, EQUAL COUNT]: Any 680mm slim crate contains strictly
   25 panes. Never exceed 25 panes;
2. [EQUAL TRIPARTITE SPLIT]: 100-pane bulk batches (W3 2G, W2 2G, W3 1S)
   must be divided into 3 equal crates (34 + 33 + 33 panes), width 880-900mm,
   holding gross weight safely at 900-1000kg with zero oversized crates;
3. [HORIZONTAL SLAB FLAT-PACK]: Oversized glass (W4 3MS, W5 2-MS, W5 1G)
   must be packed into 20-pane narrow crates (560-580mm width), grounded
   on long edge with zero vertical stacking risk!
